Tips for first home studio acoustic treatment

My mixes never translate to the car. Pretty sure it's my room. Where do I start without spending a fortune or making it look like a padded cell?

First reflection points + a thick rug + something on the back wall. That's 80% of it.

Bass traps in the corners did more for me than anything. Corners first.
