How do I legally release a cover song?

I recorded a cover and want to put it on streaming. Do I need a mechanical license? How does that work for an indie artist with no label?

For streaming you need a mechanical license — services like Easy Song or your distributor can arrange it. Don't skip this.

And if you change the lyrics/melody it's a different (harder) clearance. Straight cover = mechanical.
