Preamps + Unison plugins are worth it

Conversion is genuinely class-leading and latency is a non-issue. The Unison preamps change the tone of what you're tracking — monitoring an 1176 or a Neve emulation in real time while you record is the whole point.
Thunderbolt-only is the catch — check your ports. The real cost is the UAD plugin ecosystem (most are paid add-ons), and the console software has a small learning curve. Worth it if you'll live inside that ecosystem.
