Fender Player II Stratocaster
★★★★★★★★★★4.6(421 reviews)
Best bang-for-buck Strat in 2026
by sixstring · Mar 2026
The Player II refresh is a real step up over the original Player series — the rolled fingerboard edges make it feel broken-in straight out of the case, and the new pickups have more output and clarity.
Made-in-Mexico QC is reliable; frets were tidy and it played well after a quick setup. The synchronized trem's tuning stability is only average — a lot of players block it or upgrade the nut — but at this price it's still the benchmark first serious Strat.
Pros
- +Rolled fingerboard edges, comfy Modern C neck
- +Hotter, clearer Player II pickups
- +Reliable build, easy to upgrade
Cons
- −Average trem tuning stability
- −Single-coil hum (not noiseless)

As a first electric this was perfect. Stayed in tune through my first gig after a setup.

The rolled edges on the II are the real upgrade. Felt like a played-in neck on day one.
